Just take a dozen or so toothpicks and place miniature marshmallows over the point of each one. Then gently insert the toothpicks (marshmallow side up) into the top and sides of the cake. Next, place plastic wrap over the cake. The marshmallows will prevent the toothpicks from poking holes in the wrap, which can cause the wrap to collapse into the frosting. To pack up your confection, grab a clean box that's close to the size of your cake base, place a piece of nonskid shelf liner or a few rolled-up pieces of masking tape on the bottom of the box and place your cake on top.
