At Work: Think Like Your Boss
Do you stress over small mistakes? Or spend so much time tending to minor details that you actually end up missing deadlines? Domar notes that you and your boss may have different ideas about what it means to be a good employee: "What satisfies you as a perfectionist may be far more than what your employer actually needs. A lot of people agonize over their performance, when most bosses care about loyalty, punctuality and preventing turnover."
If you're concerned about a project, ask your boss what his or her expectations are — and then base yours on the answer. Domar also notes that you can reduce workplace anxiety with a little creative "calmness scheduling": Use the first and last hours of the day for simple tasks like answering e-mail, rather than for important meetings.
