In the Mirror: Fixate on the Fabulous
When perfectionists look in the mirror, they focus so intensely on their flaws, they don't see anything else. And they are much harder on themselves than on their loved ones! Domar suggests pretending you're viewing a friend's reflection, and then figuring out a way to compliment her ("Your hair is so shiny and healthy!"). Focusing on your attributes is called "practicing active gratitude," and it can actually help you become more appreciative of your body.
To remind yourself of how attractive you are, make note of your good points on Post-its and stick them to your mirror. "You can look in the mirror and see wrinkles, or you can see beauty," says Domar. "Your body is showing your wisdom." And that's just perfect!
