Rx for Finding Dr. Right - Page 2

A Match Made in Heaven?
Once you've decided on a doctor you think you'll like, schedule a visit. After your meeting, ask yourself these questions, suggested by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
Did the doctor:
  • Let you ask questions and really listen to them?
  • Answer you in a way you could understand?
  • Treat you respectfully?
  • Ask you about your history?
  • Address your health concerns?
  • Make you feel comfortable?
  • Spend a reasonable amount of time with you?
Give some thought to the answers to these questions, then trust your instincts in deciding whether this doctor is right for you. But you may also want to give the relationship some time to develop. It takes more than one visit for you and your doctor to get to know each other.
