Here’s how to play The Fitness Challenge!

How it works: Agree on the exercises and their duration based on your individual fitness levels, and agree to exercise at least three times a week for eight weeks. A player earns one point for each of the first two workouts she completes each week. The third workout of the week gets three points. (Additional workouts earn single points.)

What to bet: Anything! Cash, chores, treats or trips.

How to win: If only one player racks up 40 points, she wins. But if you both earn 40 points or more, there must be at least an eight-point difference in order for one person to win. If the point spread is less, it’s a tie!

How to pick a workout pal
Before choosing a buddy to play The Fitness Challenge, ask yourself:

Is your friend a good sport? You're playing based on the honor system, so you want someone trustworthy!

Will she make working out a priority? A flaky pal who doesn't make an honest effort makes the game too easy -- and won't compel you to continue.
