The 3-Day Holiday Recovery Diet - Page 2

Day 2
Goal: Lose That Lethargy

The ingredients in many holiday faves can send blood sugar up, then down -- making us feel tired and draggy. To recharge:

Seek out citrus
Vitamin C-rich fruits have been proven to boost energy. The reason: The mineral helps your body absorb more energy-enhancing iron from food, making you feel more alert, says Wendy Bazilian, author of The SuperFoodsRx Diet. She suggests three servings of citrus a day.

Get fishy
The heart-healthy omega-3 fats many fish contain are also known to balance blood sugar, says Christine Lydon, M.D., author of Ten Years Thinner. "The omegas in fish appear to reduce the spikes that can make us feel fatigued," says Dr. Lydon. Aim for two to three 3-oz. servings a week.
