Memories of Dad

Welcome to our brand-new blog, Remember When, the place where we call get together and laugh (or heck, sometimes cry) about those kooky, crazy and occasionally touching fads, fashions and memories from years' past.

With Father's Day right around the corner, I wanted you to take a look at the winner and runners-up from our recent Favorite Memory With Dad contest.

Windy Gregory's first-place story -- about visiting her dad in the hospital on her wedding day, while still decked out in her gown, because her father was too stick to make it to the ceremony -- is really touching. But the story that resonated most with me was Heather Yvonne Miller's simple tale about watching her dad shaving, and her father rubbing shaving cream that she thought was Cool Whip, all over her face. I remember doing the same thing when I was a girl -- perched on the toilet, watching dad shave, and him dabbing a bit of foam onto my nose.
