I own these two rings, which belonged to my husbands grandmother. How can I find out more about them?

Look for markings inside the setting that indicate precious metal, e.g., 10k, 12k, etc. A precious metal setting usually indicates the stones are gem quality. A qualified jeweler can test the settings and grade the stones. You can also ask the jeweler to appraise your rings. Normally, jewelers will tell you the replacement value what it would cost to make an identical copy which is very different from the secondary estate value. Estate value is usually 30 percent of replacement value. Assuming your rings have precious metal settings and medium-quality stones, each could have an estate value ranging from $450 to $550.
