What's it Worth?

gold pocket watch
SPECIAL OFFERS:

My grandmother owned this “Lucerne” pocket watch. The opened back does not have a serial number but does contain: “E. Gluck Swiss Trading Company/One 1 Jewel Unadjusted.” I have a photo from the early 1970s showing her wearing the watch. It’s time to discover the past!

The key to assigning value is to pinpoint when the watch was made. Your photo dates the watch before the early 1970s. The E. Gluck Corporation, founded in 1955 by Eugen Gluck, imports watches with different logo faces that are sold in department and jewelry stores. Unless you have a family provenance that dates it earlier, I favor a late 1950s, early 1960s date. The “One 1 Jewel Unadjusted” marking indicates its inexpensive worth. Having said this, know that E. Gluck provides a lifetime guarantee on working parts.

Estimated value: Under $50 (in working condition)
