I own a copy of Journal of the Life, Travels and Gospel Labours of That Faithful Servant and Minister of Christ, Job Scott, printed by Isaac Collins in New York in 1797. Its in pretty good condition. What is it worth?
Job Scott (1751 to 1793) was a Quaker minister who lived in Providence, R.I., and died of smallpox in Ireland. His journal, published posthumously, chronicles his travels to Quaker congregations in Europe and the U.S. Had you asked about this title 10 years ago, I would have valued it between $150 and $175. But the Internet has impacted the antiquarian book market; books once thought scarce are now more easily found. Condition is critical to value, so the fact that yours is in good condition helps. Ron Lieberman, an antiquarian bookseller and rare-book appraiser in Kinzers, Penn. (sellbooks.net), feels you could easily find your copy today for around $50.
