My dad saved this 1968 Detroit Tigers World Series souvenir ticket. Is it worth anything today?
— C.S. , Gladwin, Mich.
The 1968 Baseball World Series featured the St. Louis Cardinals (the defending champions) and the Detroit Tigers. To the excitement of Detroit fans, the Tigers won in seven games, coming back from a 3-to-1 deficit only the third team in the history of baseball to do so. It ultimately became Detroits first World Series championship since 1945. Unfortunately, however, your souvenir Rain Check ticket is exactly what it purports to be a souvenir ticket, not related in any way to an actual game ticket. The vast majority of sports memorabilia is most valuable in a hometown market, to the teams devoted fans. To a Tigers devotee, your souvenir has a value of around $10. Otherwise, its value is minimal, no more than $1 or $2.
