At a flea market, I bought antique wooden skis marked Paris Manufacturing Company of South Paris, Maine. How do I know if I got a good deal?
The Paris Manufacturing Company, beginning in 1861, made a range of wooden products from childrens desks to skis. The company foreclosed in 1989. Cottage Surroundings, an Internet store, recently sold these skis for $125 plus shipping. The listing noted: We purchased them from a ski store that had them in storage for 50 years. They have never been mounted with bindings and still have the string used to keep them together in shipping. Your skis have bindings and show signs of use and age. Estimated value: If you paid less than $150 for the pair, you did well. Enjoy the slopes!
