How to Clean Your Living Room
Tidy up in no time flat with these tricks
Your Strategy
Work your way around the room clockwise with a dry cloth and a damp cloth, dusting everything.
Dust up high first, then down low.
Clean interior windows and mirrors.
Use a vacuum cleaner with an attachment to clean your sofas and chairs. Be sure to lift cushions and vacuum underneath (think of furniture as part of your usual vacuuming routine).
Vacuum hardwood floors, carpets and rugs.
Trouble Spots
Carpet stains: Use a spray carpet cleaner to remove grease, oil or tar stains. Spray solvent onto a paper towel, then dab it on. Finish by blotting with a white cloth dampened with cool water (never use a colored towel on a carpet).
Dull furniture: Did you know that waxy buildup is a myth? Its really the chemicals from overused spray-on polishes that give your furniture a dull look. Try a pure lemon oil or a wood-care product that has a beeswax base.
Whats Easy to Overlook
Behind the furniture: To dust the narrow spaces behind the TV, stereo, sofa and bookcases, put an athletic sock on the end of a yardstick, then secure it with a rubber band.
