I’m always behind on my to-do list. How can I get in the habit of getting everything done?

Rather than thinking you should do it all at once and getting discouraged when you can’t, break tasks down into chunks so you can tackle one small thing each day, says Alicia Rockmore, co-founder of Buttoned Up, a company that helps women get organized. She suggests writing each task on a separate scrap of paper. Be specific: Write “balance checkbook” and “pay bills due March 15,” not “get finances in order.” Put all the pieces in a bowl and pick just one daily. “Commit to finishing one task before bed,” she says. After a week, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve accomplished in just minutes each day.
