My kids' sneakers stink! What's a good way to get the smell out?
Toss sturdy canvas shoes in the washing machine on the gentle cycle and allow to air-dry. For shoes that won't stand up to the wash (or if washing doesn't work), make sure the shoes are dry, then seal in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer overnight. It sounds weird, but the low temperature kills most odor-causing bacteria. Another trick: Fill old knee-highs or cutoff pantyhose legs with odor--absorbing kitty litter and tuck them inside shoes.
