I love daffodils, but they wilt so quickly. Any tricks to make them last?
Daffodils aren't the hardiest cut flowers out there, but blooms this cheap and cheerful are worth tossing into your cart. To eke a little more life out of these golden gems, remember to change the water at least once a day, says Kate Sapienza, a floral designer in Burbank, Calif. Why? These spring beauties secrete a milky substance that's poisonous to them and other flowers, which is why you shouldn't include daffodils in bouquets, advises Sapienza. They'll kill the whole bunch.
