First rule: Don't wear your favorite pieces while doing housework - many cleaning products contain chemicals that cause silver to turn black. Next, wash silver jewelry regularly with soapy water to remove food and grime, which can bring on tarnishing. Finally, store each piece away from sunlight in its own plastic zip-top bag (no special silver pouches needed!).
