INGREDIENTS conv. chart U.S. Metric

4 cup(s) (about 6 to 8 medium peaches) peeled, sliced peaches
2 cup(s) sugar
8 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter
1.5 cup(s) flour
2.25 teaspoon(s) baking powder
.75 teaspoon(s) salt
1.5 cup(s) milk
(optional) whipped cream, for serving

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a saucepan; mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  2. Put the butter in a deep baking dish and place in oven to melt.
  3. In a bowl, mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk slowly, stirring, to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
