The It-Car of the Season

I don’t drive, courtesy of the New York City transit system. But, to get from point A to point B, everyone else in my family has no other choice but to gas up and get behind the wheel. So, while I’m not experiencing the gas crisis first hand, I hear the horror stories on a daily basis.

My father-in-law recently agonized over shelling out $87 to fill up his Lincoln Town Car in Raleigh, N.C. My mother has succumbed to driving my younger sister’s Beetle (decked out in pink flower decals, mind you) to work because it gets better mileage than her sleek SUV. My best friend sold her car outright so that she could carpool with her husband. Why? Because she was tired of paying more on gas than on groceries!

So, yes, with these kinds of stats I’m quite content with NOT owning a car right now.

But, if I were in the market for a new ride, it’d have to be a Chrysler. The maker of Chrysler vehicles just announced an irresistible offer that caps the price of gas at $2.99 a gallon for the next three years. The catch? You have to buy or lease a new car by June 2. With your purchase you’ll get a card for buying fuel, which is connected to your bank/charge account. With each gas purchase, you’re billed $2.99/gallon, and Chrysler pays the difference.
